SUCCESS AT GRAMMAR SCHOOLS

A group of Lisburn swimmers took part in the Ulster Grammar Schools Gala held in Larne last weekend with many reaching finals and securing well deserved medals. In the Boys 10-13, Nicky Galloway swam to victory taking Gold in a time of 31.19 in the 50m Back and also claiming a new club record, with Megan Morrision, Robert Allison and Peter Sands making finals whilst in the Girls 14-15 Katie Reid also claimed Gold in a time of 30.74 with Jemma Bingham securing Bronze in 34.84.

Not to be left out, the 14-15 Boys claimed Silver with David Thompson’s time of 31.02 while swimming partners Kourosh Abelehkoob and Caolin Derry’s swims secured them a place in the finals.

In the Boys 50m Breast John Coulter and Russell White deservedly won Silver in their age groups in times of 33.69 and 32.33 respectively.

Lucy Scotts 50 Fly won her Bronze with a time of 32.55 in the Girls 10-13 group while Ruth Russell had an amazing swim finishing in a time of 36.44, well done to both girls! Chris Coulter’s time of 31.67 secured him a well deserved Silver while Olan Derry also secured a place in his age group Fly final.

The swimmers did not disappoint in the Freestyle events. Megan Morrision, Chris Coulter, Peter Sands, Kouroush Abelehkoob and Ben Carey had fantastic swims making finals while Adam Matthews and David Thompson had a close finish in the 50 Free with Adam taking Gold in a time of 25.32 and David, Bronze in 25.87. The girls also had success with Katie Reid winning Gold and Amy Grazier, Silver in their event in times of 28.23 and 30.20.   Brilliant swims everybody!

John Coulter, Ben Carey and Olan Derry all  had strong swims in the IM events with Adam Matthews storming home to take the Gold in a time of 1:03.40.
Another Gold was won by Russell White in his age group in a brilliant time of 1:05.75.

But don’t let us forget all the other fabulous swims that day from our very capable and dedicated swimmers!
